I first came to Brighton to study illustration, and never left. After clocking up 13 years of teaching art in secondary schools, and a few more of teaching English to language students, I took the leap into full-time painting. Most days, I work from my space at the Mews Studio in Hove, a few minutes from the beach, so a lot of my work has been inspired by the ever-changing coastal landscape. Trees and the countryside are also a constant inspiration, and I frequently visit Brighton's Stanmer Woods for plein-air sketches of the changing seasons.
My main influences are Turner and Hockney, and I work in oils, acrylics, watercolours, charcoal and pencil.
Please contact me if you are interested in buying any of the original works here (prices start at £80 for small paintings and from £300 for larger works) or to commission a pet portrait or pebble portrait or to talk about art classes.
